WRAP Waste Protocols
5 consultations in 1
The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) is producing Quality Protocols for a wide range of waste materials. These define how 'waste' can be turned into a saleable product on the open market.
Many of these wastes, ranging from vegetable oil to pulverised fuel ash, go to landfill even though they can be re-used or recycled because of the difficulty in selling them on once they are classified as waste,. Each of the materials covered by these Quality Protocols is of interest to specific stakeholders, and some stakeholders are interested in all of the materials.
The challenge for Dialogue by Design has been to design a new consultation website allowing people to comment on whichever of the Quality Protocols they are interested in.
We have done this by developing a 'multi-document' review system. The new website is unique and innovative in its ability to host multiple consultations on different subjects in parallel. There are currently three consultations open for participation, each with a different start and end date. When participants register they are taken to a hub where they can choose one or more consultations, and they can update this choice and add further consultations at any point. The major benefit for participants is that they only need to register on one websites and they can receive updates about all of the consultations they are interested in at the same time.
While the specifics of this consultation process may not be of interest to everyone, the methodology involves some innovative new design by hosting multiple consultations on one site. These features have added new dimensions to our web-based consultation processes and are improving participants' experience.
