Talking Innovation
The creation of the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills in June 2007 has enabled the government to widen and broaden their current innovation policy. It is the first time there has been a department that brings together skills and universities with science, and also the first time innovation has had a seat at Cabinet.
DIUS intend to publish a Science and Innovation Strategy in the spring of 2008 and are consulting on 3 particular areas of this strategy; Public sector innovation, Skills for Innovation and Innovation in the service sector. The department is keen to make the process as open as possible via their online consultation and are welcoming all users to the site to comment on the proposed strategy. This consultation will close on the 31st January.
BERR Future of Nuclear Power - results published
Earlier this month the results of the extensive consultation on the Future of Nuclear Power were published. Dialogue by Design have been working closely with the BERR Energy team since April 2007 to set up and manage the 20 week consultation. At the core of the processing system was our online consultation tool, which we modified to allow for the integration of non-online responses such as emails, letters and responses forms. By the end we received more than 20,000 comments for the 18 questions. The website had 3,756 registrations with 2728 individuals participating in the main consultation. It took a small army of data processors, collators and writers to handle the responses and produce the report during the last quarter of 2007, in what has turned out to be one of our largest consultations to date. The results and reports are currently available on the consultation website.
